BTS surpasses one billion streams on Apple Music
SEOUL: BTS again makes another first! The sevenmember act made history on Apple’s music streaming site by becoming the first Korean act to be streamed over a billion times.
The band’s representing label Big Hit Entertainment shared the news on its official Twitter account Sunday that BTS became the first K-pop artist to break one billion streams -- a number that will surely accumulate in the time to come.
BTS is taking its worldwide “Love Yourself” tour to Japan starting second week of November.
Meanwhile, EXO made a grand return after 16 months of hiatus with “Don’t Mess Up My Tempo” on Friday.
The boy band’s latest album bears an extra significance for the fans as it is the band’s first full-member effort in a while. EXO’s only Chinese member Lay has joined to complete the ninemember team, marking his first involvement since 2016’s “For Life”.
When EXO showcased four of the eleven new tracks in Incheon Saturday, the show was broadcast live on Naver’s video streaming platform V Live to accommodate fans who couldn’t make it to the event.
The live broadcast of EXO’s showcase performance earned 1.9 billion likes (and counting) from the viewers as of Sunday morning, which is less than half a day since its airing.
That V Live feat far exceeds that of most K-pop groups, and EXO’s recent broadcast titled “EXO Comeback Showcase ‘ Tempo’” quickly soared to No. 1 on V Live’s monthly most-viewed chart, a spot previously held by Jimin of BTS with his birthday live broadcast.
Naver’s real-time broadcasting app V allows fans to interact with their favourite K-pop stars through live broadcasts. The app is available for Android and iOS. For more information, visit http://www.vlive.tv.
