KUCHING: Two needy families received their new houses from Santubong MP Dato Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar yesterday.

They were Erni Fitriani from Kampung Temenggong and Mohd Yusuf Abdullah @ Segan from Kampung Temedak.

“The eligible people are the very poor, houses in dilapidated condition, the disabled, and victims of fire or natural disaster,” said Wan Junaidi when met at Mohd Yusuf’s house yesterday.

The houses were built based on ISO standards and built at a cost of RM70,000 each. What makes the aid unique is that the money (for construction )is provided by private companies but the construction works were done by the villagers themselves, thus creating job opportunities for the villagers, he said.

He urged private companies which do business here (Sarawak) to give back to the community by helping to build houses for the needy.
