Abdul Khalik named Sibu’s Best Qari, Haslinda Best Qariah

SIBU: Abdul Khalik Hasbullah and Haslinda Hassan were adjudged the ‘Best Qari and Qariah’, respectively, at this year’s divisional Tilawah Al-Quran.

Held at Surau Darul Firdaus, Apollo Road here on Friday night, the event gathered six ‘qari’ (male Quran reciters) and six ‘qariah’ (female Quran reciters) from across the division.

Placing second and third in the ‘Qari’ category were Hasnizan Hasbullah and Mohd Zain Hasbullah respectively while in the ‘Qariah’ category, the first and second runners-up were Shanifah Bohan and Masjuwita Mohd Rejeni, respectively.

Sibu District Officer Awang Yusup Awang Mustapa officiated at the closing ceremony of the two-night event and later, presented the prizes.

Sibu Resident’s representative Awang Mohd Nizam Awang Ali Bohan and Surau Darul Firdaus committee chairman Hamzah Beeran were also present.
