SUV bursts into flame at KIA departure hall

KUCHING: A sports utility vehicle bursts into flame at Kuching International Airport (KIA) here last Friday.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokesperson said a team of firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya fire station was deployed to the scene after receiving report of the burning vehicle at 8.10pm at the Departure Hall, Level 3.

However, the flame was put off by the vehicle’s owner with assistance from the KIA auxiliary police and Airport Fire and Rescue Department using two fire extinguishers.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained.
