Workers’ barrack reduced to ashes

KAPIT: A 10-door wooden workers’ barrack belonging to a sawmill at Nanga Bawai about 20km from here was reduced to ashes in a fire last Friday evening.

Luckily no one was at the barrack and therefore there is no casualty nor injuries recorded.

The fire started around 7pm and the Fire and Rescue Dept received a distress call 15 minutes later.

Seventeen firemen led by Erwandy Tugor and Edward Sanggau Franky managed to put out the fire about 9pm.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
