New outlet ONO Poke targets healthy living through healthy eating

-

KUCHING: ONO Poke – a new eating outlet in the city – is offering healthy meals in the form of nutritious salad bowls containing wholesome grains as well as an assortment of proteins and vegetables.

Managing director Jovan Chua said ONO Poke aims to promote and encourage healthy eating lifestyle among Kuchingites given the diverse cuisines available in the city.

“We hope that with the introduction of ‘ poke’ bowls, it will become a staple in the diet of many, thus advocating our philosophy of healthy eating,” he said following the launching of the outlet at Emporium, off Jalan Tun Jugah here, by Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian yesterday.

Dr Sim said he was pleased to note that quite a number of young entrepreneurs have made the city more vibrant by bringing in innovative concepts.

He believed that ONO Poke could play a role in promoting healthy diet among city dwellers here and beyond, especially as Malaysia records the highest number of diabetes and high cholesterol cases in Southeast Asia.

“Health is so important and it comes from eating healthy food to leading a healthy lifestyle, and having good healthcare facilities. I was informed that ONO Poke’s food is healthy because it is saladbased.

“It is not just vegetarian, but healthy food which is very much needed in Sarawak at this point of time,” said Dr Sim.

He also suggested Chua extend his healthy bowls to Peninsular Malaysia, adding: “Good things have to be shared beyond Kuching.”

ONO Poke opens daily from 10.30am to 10pm.
