Organisers laud Kota Samarahan Municipal Council on great support for drift event

-

KUCHING: The organisers of Kuching Drift Party 2018 are encouraged by the full support rendered by Kota Samarahan Municipal Council for the event – the first of its kind ever held here.

In a joint statement, Staytuned Motorsport Club and Kuching Drift Crew said such cooperation gave them great morale to host more drift and motorsports events going forward.

“For many years, we have been struggling to find a suitable and safe venue for motorsport enthusiasts to practise and learn the art of drifting.

“Finally, we received strong support from the municipal council, which rented to us this great location, the Kota Samarahan Civic Centre.

“We believe in safety and suitability when it comes to venue for all motorsports events. In a way, this prevents illegal road racing, which endangers others on public roads,” said the statement.

Thirty-three teams from Kuching, Sri Aman, Sibu, and Miri took part in Kuching Drift Party 2018 on Sunday.

Adding on, the organisers viewed having a proper racing track in Sarawak as `important’, in that it could host more largescale motorsports events in the future.

They believed that with everyone’s support, this dream could become a reality.

“But until that day comes, let us all support locally- organised events like this to make Sarawak motorsports scene alive and progressive, towards a positive future.”

Sarawak United National Youth Organisation supreme council member Dato Ahmad Ibrahim was the guest- of-honour at the event.
