Bonus for civil servants, trust fund for new born next year

CIVIL servants in Sarawak will receive a bonus of one and half months salary or a minimum of RM2,000 which will be paid at the end of next month.

This was announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday.

“The bonus payment is the government recognitio­n of the hard work and dedication of the civil servants in the state,” he said.

Abang Johari, who is also the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning also announced Sarawakian couples are encouraged to have more babies so that there are many strong and clever Anak Sarawak to defend the state.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg also announced a RM1,000 endowment fund for every Sarawakian born, regardless of ethnicity, religion and social status, from the first day of next year.

The fund will be invested by the government and the amount can only be withdrawn on their 18th birthday firstly for their education.
