2019 State Budget not for snap election — Abg Jo

-

CHIEF Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has denied speculation that the 2019 State Budget is for a snap election.

“No. Why is there the need for an election?” he told reporters when met after the State Legislative Assembly ( DUN) sitting concluded yesterday.

He had tabled the 2019 State Budget of RM11.914 billion which is the biggest recorded so far.

The rural development-biased budget sees a substantial allocation of RM9.073 billion for development expenditure, of which RM6.049 billion or 67 per cent will be provided for the development of rural areas.

Meanwhile, on the bonus for state civil servants, Abang Johari said it was appropriate.

Earlier in his winding-up speech, he announced a one-and-a-half month bonus or minimum of RM2,000 for Sarawak civil servants to be paid by this year end.

“They have been working very hard and the economy is good,” he said.
