Actor Zaibo dies at 62 in his home

KUALA LUMPUR: Zaibo, the actor whose real name is Zainal Ariffin Abd Hamid, has died. He was 62.

Zaibo died at 1.30pm yesterday of oesophageal cancer at his home in Rengit, Batu Pahat, Johor, his wife, Siti Hawa Sawal, 52, told Bernama.

He was buried after the Isyak prayers yesterday.

Malaysian Artistes Association (Seniman) secretary-general Hafiz Nafiah said Zaibo will be buried at the Rengit Muslim Cemetery after the funeral prayers at the house.

He said Zaibo had appeared in many local films and dramas in various roles and had left an indelible impression in the hearts of his fans.

The notable dramas in which Zaibo appeared are Spanar Jaya, Under One Roof and Anna and the King.

“The executive committee and members of Seniman express their condolences to Zaibo’s family,” he said in a statement.

Last Monday, Tunku Puteri Johor, Tunku Aminah Sultan Ibrahim, and her husband, Dennis Muhammad Abdullah, visited Zaibo at his home. — Bernama
