250 students expected to join football clinic

MIRI: Subis District Headmaster Counci l and Miri Division Footbal l Associat ion wi l l organise the Jalil Ramli Football Clinic at SK Kita Niah here this Saturday.

Mir i Div i sion Fo otba l l Associatio­n secretary Mohamad Azra said some 250 primary school students from Niah and Suai are expected to participat­e in the second edition of the clinic.

According to him, about 160 participan­ts took part in the first edition, which was held at SK Selanyau football field on Nov 3.

“The programme went smoothly and students were excited to meet and learn from Sarawak football legend Jalil Ramli,” he said.

“They were given basic football t raining and proper game techniques and the clinic is also mentored by State Sports Council ( MSN) Miri Developmen­t Centre players,” he added.

The c l inic, focusing on primary school students, is seen as a starting point for football developmen­t over the long term where young participan­ts will gain valuable experience with profession­al trainers in order to develop further in the sport.

“When they have football basics at a young age, we can build their interest from there and they will have a good chance of becoming a profession­al footballer­s,” he added.

Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni and Football Associatio­n of Sarawak president Dato Posa Majais are expected to attend the closing ceremony this Saturday.
