Arrests, seizures as police raid illegal gambling premises

BINTULU: Two women were detained by police during separate raids targeting illegal gambling activities.

The pair, aged 19 and 20, was nabbed in the Sungai Nyigu industrial area and old town area here on Sunday following tip- offs received.

Police also seized two mobile phones, cash amounting to RM261 and calculators from the two premises during the two-hour operation.

Both cases are being investigated under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953, which provides for a fine of between RM10,000 and RM100,000, upon conviction.
