MIRI: The upgrading and improvement works on SJKC Tukau are progressing well, with the progress rate reaching 78 per cent towards completion.

In this regard, Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting expresses his satisfaction with the project, of which the RM159,000 cost is being funded under his Rural Transformation Programme ( RTP) grant.

It is learnt that the school management submitted a report to the assemblyman in July this year, informing him about the poor facilities there and also requesting funds for the upgrading works.

“The works, implemented by the JKR ( Public Works Department) commenced on Oct 16 this year – it is expected to reach full completion by Feb 15 next year,” said Ting when met after conducting an inspection on the project site at the school yesterday, where he was accompanied by the headmaster Chang Kuang Kit.

It is learnt that the improvement works on SJKC Tukau involve repair works on the school stage, staff barracks and staircases, replacement of some ageing structures such as the doors, ceilings and window frames, upgrading works on the toilets and the kitchen’s piping system, as well as construction of gutters.
