Uphold discipline, strive to upskill yourselves, auxiliary firefighters advised

-

MARUDI: Members of the auxiliary firefighting unit ( PBB) here must always uphold their integrity and discipline, and at the same time, strive to upskill themselves.

In making this call, Fire and Rescue Department Zone 6 chief Law Poh Kiong regards discipline as the key factor in ensuring that all operations would run effectively.

“We (volunteer firefighters) have to work together with the fulltime Fire and Rescue personnel in whatever emergency situation, where the key focus areas are ensuring safety, and preventing major loss of lives and properties,” he said during the closing ceremony of a 10- day remedial course for 15 local auxiliary firefighters at the Marudi Fire and Rescue station yesterday.

Law also took the opportunity to welcome four PBB officers who reported for duty here on Nov 1 this year.

On the course, Law said it was meant to highlight to the participants the importance of running a ‘ high-performance organisation’ ( HPO).

“The Fire and Rescue Department would never compromise when it comes to the disciplinary aspects, in addition to having good skills and knowledge.

“These are the features of a HPO – skills, knowledge, discipline and commendable attitude,” he reminded the PBB personnel.

Marudi Fire and Rescue officer Maureen Sim, as well as PBB team supervisors Iskandar Aus, Trainner Rorudi and Stephen Saga Gurang were also present.
