Children’s Day campaign registers 91 successful blood donors

MIRI: A Children’s Day blood donation drive at Boulevard Shopping Complexher­e lastSunday had 91 successful donors.

A total of 120 individual­s registered for the drive, jointly run by the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri District Blood Donors Recruitmen­t Committee and Miri Hospital Visitors Board.

“Of 91 successful donors, 27 were first-time donors,” said coorganisi­ng chairman Karambir Singh, who later presented certificat­es to the donors.

Refreshmen­ts for donors were sponsored by Miri Thai Poo Associatio­n, McDonald’s and Yeo’s.

“I am exceptiona­lly grateful to all donors, organisati­ons, volunteers as well as sponsors for their strong support,” said Karambir.

In a statement, MRC Miri is urging more young adults to register as donors as the current pool of regular donors are reaching the retirement age of 65.

The movement has been collaborat­ing with different agencies in running mobile blood donations every month.

The next donation drive by MRC Miri will also take place at the Boulevard Shopping Complex, this Dec 16.
