MIRI: A Children’s Day blood donation drive at Boulevard Shopping Complexhere lastSunday had 91 successful donors.
A total of 120 individuals registered for the drive, jointly run by the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri District Blood Donors Recruitment Committee and Miri Hospital Visitors Board.
“Of 91 successful donors, 27 were first-time donors,” said coorganising chairman Karambir Singh, who later presented certificates to the donors.
Refreshments for donors were sponsored by Miri Thai Poo Association, McDonald’s and Yeo’s.
“I am exceptionally grateful to all donors, organisations, volunteers as well as sponsors for their strong support,” said Karambir.
In a statement, MRC Miri is urging more young adults to register as donors as the current pool of regular donors are reaching the retirement age of 65.
The movement has been collaborating with different agencies in running mobile blood donations every month.
