Miri Diocese to build two new kindergartens
MIRI: The Diocese of Miri needs the support of Catholics to build one more kindergarten in Miri and another in Bintulu.
According its Bishop, Right Revd Richard Ng, the project will require about two to three million ringgit. Currently there are three Catholic kindergartens in Miri and two in Bintulu.
“We are currently looking at the drawing plans for the new kindergartens in Bintulu and in Taman Tunku here,” he said in his address at the Catholic Kindergartens combined graduation ceremony recently.
Ng said he was happy to see the progress and development of these kindergartens and lauded the board of management and teachers for their dedication and good work.
“Our kindergarten fee is the lowest as the church is here to serve the people, not to make money. So we will keep it low and affordable.
“We try our best to work within the budget. There are times when we seek donation from parents to cover some cost,” he said.
“The kindergartens promote universal, not just Christian values. Children are taught to be honest, punctual, polite, humble, to serve, and to lead. All these are very important values in school and at home.
“At home, parents have to be good examples to their children, especially in their moral upbringing.
“The children’s characters and spiritual lives are very important,” he reminded.
The ceremony held at Gymkhana Club Miri saw over 100 pupils from St Joseph, St Dominic and Sri Cahaya kindergartens receive their certificates.
