Tennis club on 4-day visit to Kuching

KUCHING: Thirty-seven players from the Kelab PERTENSI Kota Singkawang, Indonesia are in Kuching for a series of friendly games with members of Sarawak Lawn Tennis Associatio­n (SLTA) and various clubs such as MAKSAK, MEDIC, and Sarawak Club from Nov 17 to 20.

SLTA president Dato Patrick Liew said this was the first visit by the tennis club from Kalimantan and is aimed at fostering ties between it and local tennis clubs and SLTA.

PERTENSI Kota Singkawang is led by team leader Tasman.

They also will visit various places of interest in Kuching before returning to Kota Singkawang on 20 Nov 2018.

“SLTA wi l l take the lead together with MAKSAK to arrange reciprocal visits to Singkawang and Pontianak in the first quarter of 2019 to foster closer sports relationsh­ip to promote healthy life style and keeping tennis a lifestyle and life- long sport not only to develop youth talents but also keeping the seniors players active after their retirement,” Liew added.
