Presentation of certificates highlight of school’s annual year-end ceremony
KAPIT: SJK(C) Hock Lam held its annual school concert cum student awards ceremony at the civic centre here on Monday.
The event was attended by teachers, pupils and their parents, and featured dancing and singing, choral speaking, sketch plays and other performances by each class.
The highlight of the evening was the handing- out of school-leaving certificates to 87 Year 6 pupils, who will be attending Form 1 at the start of the new school year.
The certificates were presented by guest of honour Mohamad Mahadi, who represented the Kapit Education Department.
During the ceremony, a total of RM4,872 was raised for the school, which is the only Chinese aided primary school in Kapit. The school has some 700 pupils and 40 teachers.
Meanwhile, headmaster Wong Siew Ching in his speech thanked elected representatives, school board of management, parentteacher association (PTA), parents and private individuals for their generosity in supporting the school every donations.
He said the funds have helped the school to have facilities such as a library, conference room, music room, counselling room, science laboratory and computer lab.
“It took us six years to have these facilities built. What we are doing year through is to provide a conducive teaching and learning environment for the benefit of the children,” he said.
Board of management deputy chairman Dato Yong Hua Sying and PTA chairperson Georgina Pui were among those who attended the ceremony.
