PDP branches want Tiong retained as party chief

-

SIBU: The five branches of Progressive Democratic Party ( PDP) in central Sarawak have expressed their full support for Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing to be retained as party chief when the party holds its election next month in Bintulu.

In a press statement yesterday, they also expressed hope to see a friendly atmosphere in the election to ensure party unity.

They said in such an amicable atmosphere, the party would serve the people well. The five branches are Dudong, Bukit Assek, Pelawan, Nangka and Bawang Assan.

The leaders of these branches gave their statement in line with the goodwill visit of Meluan assemblyman Roland Duat, who is a PDP central committee member. The branches said they had already declared their full support for Tiong in their AGM in October.

They hoped the party would grow from strength to strength under their current leaders.

Meanwhile, Roland said he agreed with the views of the five branches. “They all hope there would be no contest for the party chairman’s post in the party election on Jan 12 in Bintulu.”

Roland said he had faith that the party would continue to remain strong to play a major role in the GPS coalition that forms the government of Sarawak.
