IGP: Efforts to handle security issues in Sabah a success

-

PAPAR: The federal authorities have been successful in handling security issues in Sabah, especially in the east coast area of the state, says Inspector- General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun yesterday.

He attributed the success to the efficiency of the authorities’ constant efforts to handle any security threats and also the cooperation of the public in relaying information to prevent terrorist invasions, like the one which happened in Lahad Datu in 2013.

“We (the police) are confident that the public will continue to relay information to us if there are unwanted elements (who threaten the nation’s security) trying to sneak into the country.

“We will be able to handle this issue effectively from time to time,” he told reporters after presenting the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara to 414 officers and personnel of the Royal Malaysia Police’s Sabah contingent here yesterday.

He said the authorities, especially the Eastern Sabah Security Command ( ESSCom) and Sabah Police, would always pay special attention to curbing attempts by foreign intruders, like the Abu Sayyaf militants, who are also being hunted by the authorities of neighbouring countries. — Bernama
