PAPAR: Sixty- eight people have been arrested so far to facilitate investigation in connection with last Monday’s riot at Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in USJ 25, Subang Jaya in Selangor, from 58 people last week, said Inspector- General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.

”We (police) cannot estimate how many more will be arrested because it depends on investigation which is being conducted intensively in Selangor,” he added.

He told this to reporters after presenting the ‘Jasa Pahlawan Negara’ medal to 414 police officers and personnel from the Sabah police contingent here yesterday.

On the current situation at the temple, Mohamad Fuzi said it was under control with policemen, as well as personnel from the General Operations Force and the Federal Reserve Unit still stationed there to monitor the area.

He also advised the people to be responsible when disseminating information through the social media, including on the temple incident.

“The problem is when a video which is not related at all is viraled and linked to the temple incident, and there are also statements from certain quarters, in the country and abroad, which caused uneasiness among many quarters.

“I hope all quarters will be responsible and not worsen the situation,” he added. — Bernama
