Chinese hospital trains medics in snakebite treatment
BEIJING: A hospital in southern China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has teamed up with health authorities in countries along the Belt and Road to train doctors in treating snakebites with traditional Chinese medicine ( TCM), the China Daily reported yesterday.
Earlier this year, the Wuzhou Hospital of TCM in Guangxi started offering free training on snakebite and anti-venom treatments to medics from countries participating in the B& R Initiative.
The training courses cover basic knowledge in TCM, methods of distinguishing poisonous snakes and therapies using traditional remedies, according to Xinhua news agency.
“We’re here to treat patients with comprehensive therapy combining Western medicine and TCM, which can better help save the lives of patients,” Sieng Buthan, a Cambodian doctor involved in the training, was quoted saying in an article.
The hospital plans to hold two programmes a year, running from May to August and September to November, and expects to train eight doctors in the next three years. — Bernama
