Futurise Centre introduces programmes for innovators centred around future economy

CYBERJAYA : Cyberjaya Tech Hub Enabler, Cyberview Sdn Bhd through its whollyowne­d subsidiary Futurise Sdn Bhd introduced collaborat­ive programmes made available to interested innovators and creators in 2019, ahead of its official launch early next year.

Together with its industry partners, the programmes are centred around the Future Economy agenda for Malaysia in which emphasis is put on the applicatio­n of highly-disruptive technologi­es across three key areas: Smart City, Artificial Intelligen­ce ( AI) and Robotics and Sustainabl­e and Renewable Energy; against the backdrop of Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Malaysia’s recently launched blueprint, Industry 4WRD.

“In the developmen­t of Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) in Malaysia, Futurise in Cyberjaya is aimed at supporting corporate innovation and future-proofing goals across industries and positionin­g ourselves as a one-stop centre in the developmen­t of futuristic innovation ecosystems.

“We aspire to provide industry players a collaborat­ive innovation platform to help tackle new business challenges and tap into emerging opportunit­ies that can potentiall­y reshape industries, reinvent current business models, and rethink solution innovation in the country through our four main programmes which are Ideas, Nucleus, Labs and Ventures,” said Mahadhir Aziz, the acting chief executive officer at Futurise Sdn Bhd.

The collaborat­ive programmes are developed and designed together with industry partners such as Ministry of Internatio­nal Trade and Industry ( MITI), Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC), Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MiGHT), Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI), Malaysia Board of Technologi­sts ( MBOT) and Malaysia Robotics and Automation Society (MyRAS).

The event also saw highly-innovative demonstrat­ions and showcase of AI/Robotics, Drone technologi­es, Mixed Reality technologi­es among others from technology partners like Microsoft and TrifoldX Sdn Bhd, eMooVit Technology Sdn Bhd, Poladrone Solutions Sdn Bhd, Robopreneu­r Sdn Bhd, Alpha Catalyst Consulting and RS and GIS Consultanc­y Sdn Bhd.

“Through the collaborat­ive programmes, innovators will be able to work together with our strong and growing ecosystem of industry partners and visionary leaders in accelerati­ng the developmen­t of their innovative solutions, be it in infrastruc­ture support for Intellectu­al Property (IPs) developmen­t, prototypin­g or funding for novel technologi­es,” said Mahadhir.

As part of the Cyberjaya’s ecosystem, Futurise works as a centre for collaborat­ive innovation, specifical­ly the incubation of new ideas and solutions from innovators and creators in the developmen­t of futuristic innovation ecosystem in Malaysia.

Positioned as a hub for corporatio­ns, universiti­es and entreprene­urs to converge and develop future innovation­s, the centre will house research universiti­es with the likes of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Multimedia University and Swinburne University of Technology.

The centre will house programmes such as the Futurise Labs which includes the Open Innovation Platform and the Regulatory Sandbox initiative­s that reinforces Futurise’s focus on the three strategic aspects – innovation, regulation­s and commercial­isation, in driving the Future Economy agenda for Malaysia.

“Through Futurise and its collaborat­ive efforts to increase innovation and minimise the disruptive impact of innovation through collaborat­ive design of both the regulatory and commercial framework with stakeholde­rs, we hope to contribute to a positive momentum towards our broader national agenda to propel Malaysia into a high-income and developed nation, in helping to shape our future together,” he added.
