KUCHING: The Council of Kuching City South ( MBKS) is holding a photography contest ‘Kuching In Your Eyes’ in conjunction with the Visit Sarawak Year 2019.

Capture the best view of the city or illustrate the harmony of Kuching through your lens to win attractive cash prizes.

“We encourage all photography enthusiasts and residents of Kuching to participate in this contest which promotes Kuching City, its lifestyle, traditions and cultures,” said mayor Datuk James Chan during a press conference here yesterday.

Open to all Malaysian citizens, the contest runs from Dec 10 to 28. No entry fee is required.

Just submit snapshots of the rarely-seen, the city’s landscape, its natural environment, history, culture, buildings and people that illustrate the characteristic of parks, open spaces under the jurisdiction of MBKS or show the harmony in Kuching.

Entries can be in black and white, full colours and printed in 8’x12’.

The first prize will be RM2,000, with RM1,500 as the second prize and RM1,000 as the third prize. There will be 20 consolation prizes of RM100 each. All winners will receive a certificate each.

According to Chan, all winning photographs will be included in promotional material to be released by the council for visitors.

He said a similar contest organised five years ago received good response, adding that the council is mulling to list the event on its annual calendar.

Chan said good photographs attract the attention of people as a picture is worth a thousand words. Winners will be announced in January next year, followed by a prize presentation.

Entry forms are available at http://mbks.sarawak.gov.my or the security counter in MBKS lobby. Completed forms and entries must be submitted to 3rd Floor, Corporate Development and Public Relations Unit, MBKS, Jalan Padungan on or before noon on Dec 28.
