SHAH ALAM: The Youth and Sports Ministry is planning to arrange for three charter flights to take Malaysian supporters to Hanoi for the AFF Suzuki Cup final second leg match against Vietnam on Dec 15.

Its minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said they are discussing with airlines in the country on the matter so that more fans can cheer for Malaysia in the return-leg tie.

“In the semi- final return- leg match ( against Thai land in Bangkok on Dec 5), AirAsia agreed to provide the charter flight, and this time we want more flights for the fans.

“I am discussing with Malaysia Airlines as well as AirAsia. We want the voice of our Ultras Malaya supporters to be heard in Hanoi,” he told reporters after attending the Bicara Minda programme organised by Sinar Harian yesterday.

He said a decision would be made soon.

Malaysia will host Vietnam in the first-leg of the final on Dec 11 before travelling to Hanoi for the return leg on Dec 15. Meanwhile, Vietnam Airlines has confirmed the operation of additional f lights to Kuala Lumpur, with over 1,000 seats on offer, for the first leg tie.

According to reports, the extra flights are expected to run from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, which give extra boost for Vietnam fans to support their team in Kuala Lumpur.
