Tem­ple riot:106 peo­ple ar­rested so far — IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysia Po­lice (PDRM) have ar­rested an­other four peo­ple in con­nec­tion with the ri­ots at the Sri Maha Mari­amman Tem­ple in Subang Jaya last Nov 26, bring­ing the to­tal num­ber of sus­pects in the case to 106 peo­ple as at 8am yes­ter­day.

In­spec­tor-Gen­eral of Po­lice Tan Sri Mo­hamad Fuzi Harun said apart from that, seven of the 66 in­di­vid­u­als wanted by the po­lice in con­nec­tion with the case had sur­ren­dered and given their state­ments to fa­cil­i­tate in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

Asked whether the po­lice had recorded state­ment from fire­fighter Muham­mad Adib Mohd Kas­sim, 24, who was se­verely in­jured when at­tacked dur­ing the riot, Mo­hamad Fuzi said the po­lice had yet to do so as the fire­fighter had not re­cov­ered fully from the in­juries.

“In­syaAl­lah, we will record his state­ment when he has re­cov­ered,” he told a me­dia con­fer­ence af­ter a mass cir­cum­ci­sion in­volv­ing 74 chil­dren which was or­gan­ised by PDRM at the Bukit Aman Mosque here yes­ter­day.

Mo­hamad Fuzi said a task force, led by Bukit Aman Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tion Depart­ment (CID) di­rec­tor Datuk Seri Wan Ah­mad Na­j­mud­din Mohd had been set up to in­ves­ti­gate the at­tack on Muham­mad Adib.

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion was be­ing jointly car­ried out by the Bukit Aman and Se­lan­gor CID, he added. — Ber­nama
