3 nabbed for drug abuse during joint ops

MIRI: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) in collaborat­ion with the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) and People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) nabbed three individual­s for drug abuse during a joint operation at KM87 Miri-Bintulu road on Friday.

In a statement here yesterday, JPJ Miri chief Misnan Tamimi said the operation also saw 10 notices issued for various traffic offences.

Among the offences were expired road tax and expired Competent Driving Licence (CDL).

“A total of 36 people were tested for drugs during the operation, but only three came back positive for abusing the drug Methamphet­amine,” Misnan said.

The three suspects were later handed over to AADK for further investigat­ion.

A total of 10 JPJ personnel, 15 from AADK, and six from Rela took part in the operation.
