3 nabbed for drug abuse dur­ing joint ops

MIRI: The Road Trans­port Depart­ment (JPJ) in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Na­tional Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) and Peo­ple’s Vol­un­teer Corps (Rela) nabbed three in­di­vid­u­als for drug abuse dur­ing a joint op­er­a­tion at KM87 Miri-Bin­tulu road on Fri­day.

In a state­ment here yes­ter­day, JPJ Miri chief Mis­nan Tamimi said the op­er­a­tion also saw 10 no­tices is­sued for var­i­ous traf­fic of­fences.

Among the of­fences were ex­pired road tax and ex­pired Com­pe­tent Driv­ing Li­cence (CDL).

“A to­tal of 36 peo­ple were tested for drugs dur­ing the op­er­a­tion, but only three came back pos­i­tive for abus­ing the drug Metham­phetamine,” Mis­nan said.

The three sus­pects were later handed over to AADK for fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

A to­tal of 10 JPJ per­son­nel, 15 from AADK, and six from Rela took part in the op­er­a­tion.
