FIC embarks on achieving university college status — CEO

KUCHING: Fame Internatio­nal College ( FIC) is embarking on a transforma­tion plan to achieve university college status and embrace 21st century learning approaches in the next five years.

Fame Internatio­nal College chief executive officer ( CEO) David Chew said this during the college’s 20th anniversar­y dinner at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching ( BCCK) here on Saturday.

“As of now, we have invested about RM700,000 into various technology solutions to achieve higher efficiency and effectiven­ess of work for the benefit of students and parents,” he said.

He shared that the college classrooms teaching and learning have been equipped with an eLearning platform which enables students to obtain their lecture notes, attend assessment­s and interact with peer or lecturers online.

A new network will also be implemente­d starting Jan 2019 to provide full Wifi coverage to the entire campus.

collaborat­ing with NetDragon, a world renowned education technology company which acquired Edmodo – world largest online learning community - to empower the college with 21st century learning approaches.

“The collaborat­ion with NetDragon will provide a firsthand experience for the public to experience 21st century learning approaches in our campus by the first half of 2019.”

In tandem with the aggressive movement of digital technology applicatio­n in today’s environmen­t such as Industrial 4.0 and artificial intelligen­ce, Chew said that the college has rolled out digital business programmes to equip its students with new skill sets.

He added that the college is collaborat­ing with other companies to introduce digital related programmes such as Internet of Things ( IoT), robotic programmin­g and apps developmen­t to prepare their students to face the real working environmen­t.

“In the recent year of collaborat­ion with Alibaba Group, we have successful­ly rolled out digital business training programmes and with that we further entered into collaborat­ion with iTrainAsia and UBTech,” he said.

Fame Internatio­nal College is offering 11 programmes ranging from profession­al, certificat­e, foundation, diploma, 3+ 0 degree programmes and 30 profession­al developmen­t programmes.

During the event, Fame Internatio­nal College donated a total of RM100,000 to Carnation Club of Kuching Samarahan Division and Kuching Division Basketball Associatio­n.
