Over 300 TCS graduates receive scrolls at convocatio­n

KUCHING: A total of 311 graduates of Technology College Sarawak ( TCS) received their scrolls during the college’s crystal convocatio­n ceremony held at Riverside Majestic Hotel here yesterday.

Of the number, seven graduated with Bachelor of Business Technology ( Hons) in Computer Entreprene­urial Management, one received Bachelor of Business Technology, 259 received their Diploma in Technology Management and 44 graduated with Foundation in Business.

Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth, and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah who officiated at the ceremony congratula­ted the students for their hard work in obtaining their scrolls.

“I would also like to congratula­te the parents because of their sacrifices that the students can achieve this result today.

“Students must not solely rely on their certificat­es to be successful, but it is also important to have selfdeterm­ination, discipline, hard work and humility,” he said.

He added that it was always a parents’ priority to see their children succeed in life and in return, the children must do their best in their career for the family.

Meanwhile, TCS chief executive Azri Nor Abdul Rahman said the college was awarding achievemen­t awards for the best student and best lecturer.

The Best Student Award in the Degree category went to Melvin Collin Douglas Muli of Bachelor of Business Technology ( Hons) in Computer Entreprene­urial Management, while Ramlin Jati Abdullah from Diploma in Technology Management was awarded the Best Student for Diploma and Travis Shane Asa Aran received the Best Student Award for the TCS Foundation in Business Programme.

Two lecturers were given special recognitio­n for their service and dedication in educating these graduates. The recipients, Chong Min Khiuk and Mazarina Rosana received RM500 and a certificat­e of achievemen­t each.

TCS, which was awarded 5- Star by MyQuest recently, is dedicated to delivering quality education to Sabahans and Sarawakian­s alike.

In grooming the students, TCS believes in producing all-rounded graduates who not only excel in their studies, but are also equipped with the soft skills needed to succeed after graduation.

Since its establishm­ent in 2003, the college’s intake have grown from 90 initially to more than 300 students to- date.

“We are passionate in helping to eradicate poverty, thus we strive to educate more individual­s from the B40 group through affordable and quality education.

“Many of TCS’s graduates have already secured jobs in reputable organisati­ons with a 98 per cent employabil­ity rate within six months of graduating,” Azri said.
