161 receive scrolls at FAME’s 16th graduation ceremony

KUCHING: FAME Internatio­nal College celebrated its 20th anniversar­y on Saturday with another milestone when 161 graduates received their scrolls at its 16th Graduation Ceremony 2018 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching ( BCCK).

Of the 161 graduates, 49 graduands from the Bachelor of Arts ( Honours) Internatio­nal Business Management and Bachelor of Science ( Honours) Business Management, Accounting and Finance programmes were conferred their degrees by University of Cumbria, United Kingdom Vice Chancellor Professor Julie Mennell.

This is the first cohort of students in the bachelor degree programmes who have completed their studies in FAME.

In addition, the Post Graduate Certificat­e in Teaching and Learning was awarded to two lecturers, Lim Chez Yeen and Voo Boo Khoon, who were also admitted as fellows of the Higher Education Academy of the UK.

“The certificat­ion course is part of the college’s staff training, developmen­t and life-long learning programmes. FAME always believes not only in gaining knowledge and skills, but also experience­s and having the correct attitude and mindset,” said a press release provided by the event’s organisers.

The graduation hall was filled with excitement and a sense of pride and achievemen­t as each graduand went on stage to receive their scroll, witnessed by family members, invited guests, faculty and staff.

Since its inception in 1998, FAME Internatio­nal College has produced more than 1,800 graduates who have completed different programmes offered.

FAME alumni are found in many sectors in commerce and industries, including accounting, fi nance, banking, automobile, informatio­n technology, marketing and sales, and food and beverage.

There are also many entreprene­urs across these various fields.

Also present during the ceremony were FAME chairman Dato Sri Khairil Awang and chief executive officer David Chew; University of Cumbria Business, Law and Social Science Department head Dr Caroline Rouncefiel­d and Collaborat­ive Provision Manager David McGregor, industry partner representa­tives, members of the board, school representa­tives, parents and friends of the graduands.
