KUCHING: Kelab Badminton Kenyalang ( KBK) is appealing to members of the Dayak community to support its inaugural Sarawak Youth Talent Badminton Camp 2018.

According to KBK secretary Anthony Ugor Nili the two- day training programme ‘One Step Ahead’ for Dayak teenagers and youths starts on Dec 15.

The camp, which aims to to unearth talents and provide exposure on basic techniques, will be held at Sentosa Sports Centre in Kota Sentosa here.

The programme starts at 9am daily and ends around 4pm on Dec 16.

Assistant Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan will officiate at the opening ceremony at 10am on Dec 15.

Anthony lamented that even though badminton is a popular sport in Malaysia and has provided international medals and glory for the nation, none of the selected national players thus far are from the Dayak community.

“That is why KBK is trying its best to design a training c ourse as catalyst of development in the sport of badminton in Sarawak, particularly to assist players from the Dayak community.
