Leo clubs commemorate service day with gifts for special children
MIRI: To commemorate International Leo Service Day which fell on December 5, three Leo Clubs here showered 50 special children of CommunityBased Rehabilitation Centre ( PDK) Lutong with Christmas gifts.
Leo Clubs of Riam Road Secondary School ( RRSS), Riam Institute of Technology ( RIT) and Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang ( KTDTHB) carried out the charity activity with their sponsoring Lions Clubs of Miri Mandarin and Miri Host.
Project co- ordinator Diana Yeoh from Lions Club of Miri Host yesterday recorded her appreciation and thanks to the management of Parkson Miri for being part of the charity programme and for giving them the opportunity to serve special children. “The Lions Club International always focuses on the welfare of children, especially special children,” she said.
“After several meetings over a month, we spent one whole day shopping and wrapping up gifts worth RM1,900 for the special children,” said presidents of the three Leos Club – Christal Sim Sheau Chi ( RRSS), Angeline Tiong Yii Hui (RIT) and Mary Shas Rowin Umpok ( KTDTHB) in a joint press statement yesterday.
Meanwhile, the president of Lions club of Miri Host Willie Chuo Siong Sieng and Lions Club of Miri Mandarin president Lina Hu Choo Ling also expressed their happiness on the outcome of the project. “We are happy that our sponsored Leo clubs have continued with this annual project to commemorate International Leo Service Day cum early Christmas gifts preparation for the special children,” they said in the press statement.
