Vivacity Megamall marks 3rd anniversar­y with donation to charities

KUCHING: Vivacity Megamall celebrated its third anniversar­y yesterday by donating RM5,000 each to six charitable organisati­on through its shopping outlets .

Kuching South mayor Dato James Chan, who graced the event, praised the mall for not only providing city folk a place to shop but also aiding those in need.

“This donation is part of the mall’s anniversar­y and also to observe the Christmas spirit of giving,” he said in his officiatin­g speech.

He said Vivacity Megamall has created vibrancy in the state capital among locals as well as tourists.

According to him, visitors from Kuching South City Council’s ( MBKS) sister cities would normally shop at the mall as part of their visit here.

“Let us not forget that next year is Visit Sarawak Year, and keep in mind that visitors from China and any other Asian countries love to do shopping,” he added.

Chan later witnessed the handing- over of mock cheques to the charitable bodies, namely Sarawak Society for the Blind, Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society ( SCCS), Society for Parents of Children with Special Needs (Pibakat), Kuching Autistic Associatio­n, Sarawak Associatio­n for the Welfare of Intellectu­ally Disabled Children ( Perkata) and Sarawak Heart Foundation.

After the cheque presentati­on, the draw for the mall’s third anniversar­y lucky draw competitio­n was also held where a total of five grand prizes and five consolatio­n prizes were given away.

Vivacity Megamall director Sim Yaw Hang and Vivacity Megamall centre manager Jonathan Naming were among those present.
