Croc which strayed into drain captured

KUCHING: A nine-foot long crocodile, which strayed into a drain near a constructi­on site in Taman Syn Syn, Matang, was caught by the Civil Defence Force personnel, yesterday.

The reptile, weighing about 60 kilogramme­s, was caught at 11.10am after a constructi­on worker in the area stumbled on the reptile.

Four personnel were dispatched to the scene after receiving the distress call at 9.19am.

Upon arrival at 10.55am, they found the crocodile still in the drain. It took them 15 minutes to capture it and hauled the reptile from the drain into a vehicle to be handed to Sarawak Forestry Corporatio­n for further action.
