Man sustains head injuries in ‘brotherly’ tiff

-

SIBU: A man sustained head injuries after he was attacked by his elder brother with a saw in their house in Kampung Sentosa here on Friday.

Before the incident at 5.30pm, the siblings aged 37 and 44 had been drinking outside.

They returned separately thereafter.

The younger brother was eating in the kitchen when he heard his elder brother asking for money from their mother.

Feeling uncomfortable with the situation, he told his elder brother off, saying he should find a job to support himself instead of asking money from their mother.

This angered the elder brother, who took a saw in the house to attack the younger brother, who sustained injuries on the left side of his head. He also sustained cuts on his right arm and at the back of the neck. He received eight stitches for the cut after he sought treatment at Sibu Hospital.

The younger sibling later lodged a police report following which police arrested the elder sibling to facilitate investigation. The police said the elder sibling has a record for drug abuse.

They have seized the saw as evidence.
