FBM KLCI
THE FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contract is expected to trade lower, tracking the performance of the underlying cash market.
A dealer said the local market would continue to be influenced by external developments, especially on the progress relating to the trade dispute between the US and China.
He said concerns over growth of world’s second largest economy following a slew of disappointing Chinese data released last week would also add to the sentiment.
“Investors will maintain cautious stance on Asian equities. As for Malaysia, we have quite a significant investment and trade with the Chinese, so any progress is worrying,” he told Bernama.
On the local front, he said small- capitalisation stocks would be under pressure, particularly those linked to Lembaga Tabung Haji on the back of the pilgrim fund’s plan to reduce its exposure in the stock market.
