Bersatu called to spread wings to Sabah

-

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (Harapan Rakyat) yesterday passed a special motion for Parti Pribumi Malaysia Bersatu ( Bersatu) to spread its wings to Sabah.

The special motion was proposed by Penampang Harapan Rakyat Youth chief, Joubit Yasin and was unanimously approved by delegates at the party’s annual general assembly here.

He said the special motion was tabled based on the struggle to uphold the practice of democracy in this country apart from being in line with the position of Sabah as a partner to the Peninsula in the formation of Malaysia as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 ( MA63).

According to him, the motion was tabled so that Bersatu could spread its wings to Sabah like other component parties of Pakatan Harapan such as PKR, DAP and Amanah.

He also said the time has come for Bersatu to jointly champion the development of the country and therefore it was fair to give Sabahans the opportunity to be part of the party.

Earlier, Harapan Rakyat president, Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin, said the entry of Bersatu in Sabah should be seen as adding value to the strength of the existing leadership in the state.

“Therefore, there is no need to worry on the question of whether Bersatu is entering Sabah and so on.

“We will not compete among ourselves in the coming election,” he told reporters after opening the 2nd Harapan Rakyat annual general assembly.

In this regard, he said Harapan Rakyat Sabah was also taking the approach of being friendly to PH and supported the leadership of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, apart from focusing on the cooperation with the coalition in the interest of the people in the state. — Bernama
