SK Tanah Merah pupils enjoy better amenities now — thanks to MP
SERIAN: The pupils of SK Tanah Merah are now enjoying various amenities meant to make the school’s environment more conducive to their learning – thanks to the allocations approved by Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang.
According to the headmaster Entalang Duat, the parliamentarian has contributed RM10,000 as well as an outright grant of RM3,000 to the school, through its parent-teacher association ( PTA).
Entalang also assures everyone that the funds have been duly spent on refurbishing works on the school.
“The money has been used to paint the classrooms, hostels and the school hall, to replace the blocks’ spoilt doors and windows, to buy 30 units of ceiling fans and also florescence bulbs, as well as to purchase three printers for the school’s staff,” he said during the school’s inaugural fund-raising dinner at Siburan community hall near here, organised and hosted by the PTA recently.
Rubiah was present to officiate at the event, which gathered some 800 guests.
Adding on, Entalang also expressed his thanks to Serian District Education Officer, Milon Sayeng for the department’s special allocation slated for the maintenance and repair works on the dilapidated classroom blocks which covered the works on the classroom ceiling and roofs, as well as the replacement of fans, lights and refurbishment of other school facilities.
“With such improvement, it is the hope of the teachers and the parents that the environment at the school would be safer and more conducive to teaching and learning in the classroom.
“We also hope for more studentsbased activities to be conducted by the PTA in the future.”
Entalang also highlighted the school’s motto ‘Sayangilah Sekolahku, Kasihanilah Sekolahku’ ( Love My School, Have Compassion For My School), adding that he was optimistic that the teachers, the PTA and the local community would continue to enhance better understanding, support and cooperation with one another when it came to implementing various activities for the benefit of the pupils, academically and non-academically.
Meanwhile in her speech, Rubiah Wang thanked the staff and PTA of SK Tanah Merah staff for the invitation, and also commended them on their good initiatives.
She also assured her constituents that she would always be adamant in continuing to serve towards and assist in the development and wellbeing of the community, including the schools.
In this respect, she later announced a grant of RM50,000 for next year, meant for further improvement works on the school as well as for funding its activities.
