Malaysian youths invited to join International Youth Exchange Programme 2019
MIRI: Malaysian citizens aged 18 to 30 years old are encouraged to join the International Youth Exchange Programme 2019, organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Information chief of Bumiputera Chamber of Commerce Sarawak (DUBS) Mohammad Hafidz Rohani said the programme participants would be exposed to other cultures and at the same time to bring their own culture to the world.
“This is an opportunity not to be missed by our youth. I was chosen in 2015 to participate in the 10- day Asean- Japan Youth Programme in Japan, with the theme ‘ Economic and Business’, whereby 250 youths from 10 Asean countries, including Timor Leste and India took part.
“We were placed under 10 different groups, and were brought to visit factories and see how the people of Japan develop Fukushima post- earthquake and tsunami. We were also given the chance to stay with Japanese foster families for three days. We were also brought to visit the surrounding areas,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Mohammad Hafidz, who is also chairperson of Miri Malay Association Youth, said the participants would also be exposed and taught international relationships and tolerance, exchange of culture, apart from fostering closer ties between the countries.
“We were asked to be the little ambassadors of Japan, and up till now, the relationship among the participants nurtured during the programme is still strong.
“Many have even established business relationship,” he said, adding the benefit and experience from the programme was endless, thus should not be missed by any youths who wishes to broaden their horizon.
