Man gets 12 months for criminal intimidation, causing mischief
SIBU: A 30-year- old man was jailed for 12 months by the magistrate’s court here yesterday for criminal intimidation and causing mischief.
Kyla Vosco was sentenced to nine months’ jail for criminal intimidation and 12 months for committing mischief.
The court however ordered the sentences to run concurrently.
The criminal intimidation charge against the accused was framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code which carries an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years or a fine or both.
The mischief charge framed under Section 427 of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of between one year and five years or a fine or both.
The court heard that on Dec 15 of this year, Kyla had about 9pm in Tanjung Latap verbally threatened to murder his sister-in-law Felicia and Felicia’s mother-in-law Lengka.
Lengka had earlier refused to entertain Kyla’s request for money from her. The latter had also broken a rice container said to be worth RM25.
In mitigation, Kyla told the court that he felt remorseful and sad over the incident. He also told the court that he suffered from mental illness, the proof of which (a mental patient’s card) is with his mother.
He also told the court not to mete out a custodial sentence as he needed to work to earn a living.
Kyla had conviction. no previous
