BSN waives Muhammad Adib’s car loan

ALOR SETAR: The family members of Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim need not shoulder the burden of his car loan as Bank Simpanan Nasional ( BSN) has agreed to waive it and cancel the late firefighte­r’s name as its debtor.

BSN chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Yunos Abd Ghani when confirming the matter, said: “Muhammad Adib took the car loan, which I can’t disclose amount, to purchase the black Perodua Myvi car in October.

“The bank will immediatel­y cancel his name as a debtor and after this, his father can change the car ownership to any of the family members. He can do so at the Road Transport Department,” he said when visiting the family at Kampung Tebengau, Kuala Kedah here yesterday.

Mohd Yunos said the bank felt that it was necessary to do so in appreciati­on of the fallen hero’s deeds and sacrifices for the people.

During the visit, Mohd Yunos also presented BSN’s cash donation to the family to further alleviate their burden.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Adib’s father, Mohd Kassim Abdul Hamid thanked BSN for waiving his son’s car loan and all Malaysians for their donations.

He also said that he planned to endow half of the donations on Muhammad Adib’s name.

Mohd Kassim said visits, donations and condolence­s had been pouring in since Muhammad Adib’s death on Dec 17.

“I am lost for words, thank you to all quarters for their sympathy and understand­ing,” he said.

Earlier, PAS spiritual leader Datuk Hashim Jasin and Kedah Islamic Foundation chairman Datuk Phahrolraz­i Zawawi, also visited and presented cash donation to the family.

Muhammad Adib, 24, who was serving as a member of the Emergency Medical Rescue Services of the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Station died at the National Heart Institute ( IJN) at 9.41pm on Dec 17, after he was believed to have been assaulted in the rioting incident at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Subang Jaya on Nov 27. — Bernama
