WFS contingent sail through Taolu Judges exam
K UCH I NG : T he Wu s hu Federation of Sarawak ( WFS) sent 10 representatives comprising coaches, judges and former athletes to the National Wushu Taolu Judges Examination at Palm Hotel, Negeri Sembilan from Dec 15 to 18.
They a re MSN Sa rawak coaches Lau Hui Wei, Ling Ung Hee and Jong Chin Wei, judges Gary Tay Soon Joo, Goh Swee Li, William Bong Kuet Jung, Diana Bong Siong Lim, Loh Jack Chang; and former Sukma athletes Andy Chang Song Cong and Chiew Sow Hong.
WFS deputy president James Ting Ing Seek was pleased to note that all 10 passed the examination and is confident that they will be able to executive their duties well at local, state and national competitions.
“This course organised by Wushu Federation of Malaysia and hosted by the Negeri Sembilan Wushu Association is basically to update the participants on the latest international rules and regulations implemented and enforced by the World Wu s hu F e d e r a t i o n ,” h e said.
“It is very important especially for the coaches to know about the latest rules and regulations as it will affect how the athletes score thei r point s during competitions.
“The new rules and regulations are now very strict and the athletes need to be aware of the points scoring system and not make unnecessary errors,” Ting pointed out.
He said the National Wushu Taolu Judges Examination is also part of WFS’ ef forts to produce more judges who wi l l b e more ski l l ed and professional.
“We are also planning to organise a simi lar event in Sarawak nest year so that other coaches and judges who did not attend the recent examination can have the opportunity to learn about the new developments in judging,” added Ting.
