Lee lifts Damai Champion of Champions crown

SANTUBONG: Lee Kah Ming was crowned the new champion of the Damai Champion of Champions Gol f Tournament at Damai Golf and Country Club ( DGCC) yesterday.

Lee carded a two- day total gross score of 157 to pip defending champion Daniel Yeo to the title just only by one stroke.

Johari Aman was third with 159 strokes.

The victory was a surprise for Lee who hit an 80 on the first day of competitio­n on Saturday but was only one stroke behind Daniel who was aiming to retain his title for the second consecutiv­e year.

However, Awang Sani Seruji stole the limelight of this year’s grand finals when he claimed the top placing in DGCC’s Order of Merit category and also winning the club’s side year- ending championsh­ip.

The handicap five player carded a total gross score of 162 strokes to win his major club title of the year and collected a total of 22 points to win the Order of Merit category.

According to DGCC’s general manager Roslan Mohd Salleh, Lee and Awang will represent the club for next year’s national level Tournament of Champions in Kuala Lumpur.

Meanwhi le, Mohd Ridzuan Ahmat won first placing in the club’s side nett category after he carded a total two- day score of 140 strokes while Sardon Ahmad finished second with 147 strokes and Choo Kueh Fong was third with 148 strokes.

The Invited Guests category saw Datuk Kho Kak Beng finishing first after he carded 65 strokes while Abdul Alik Suhairi was second with four strokes adrift and Mark Mei San finished third on 72 strokes.

All the winners received their prizes from Datuk Kho Kak Beng from KKB Engineerin­g Bhd which is the main sponsor for this year’s tournament.

Kho announced that the company will once again sponsor DGCC’s Monthly Escalation Medal (MEM) tournament­s.
