KUCHING: The Damai Golf and Country Club ( DGCC) is inviting its members and also the public to participate in their year- end tournament, the ‘Last Kopek’ Golf Tournament that will be held at DGCC tomorrow.

DGCC general manager Roslan Mohd Salleh said the competition is being organised due to popular demand by both the club’s members and non-members.

“This event is open to golfers with valid club and NHS handicap index of 22.3 and below with the entry fee inclusive of green fee, buggy and prize- giving lunch,” he said.

“This is also a good opportunity for the golfers to spend their holidays playing their favourite game while ushering the new year,” said Roslan.

The event is based on stroke play and there will be attractive prizes up for grabs including those in the lucky draw session.

The club is also finalising the calendar of events for the new year and it will be announced soon with the first tournament is expected to tee off early January.

Meanwhile, Roslan paid tribute to the outgoing Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) general manager Datu Soedirman Aini who had supported the development of DGCC and the upgrading of its golf course for the past six years.

“On behalf of DGCC, we record our utmost appreciation to Datu Soedirman Aini for his guidance and support to the club,” he said.

According to Roslan, the club had grown from strength to strength over the years and had hosted a number of international golf championships including the Sarawak Championship in July which was part of this year’s Asian Tour.

The club was also the venue for the PGM- MNRB Sarawak Golf Championship 2018 which was part of this year’s Asian Development Tour (ADT) where upcoming pro golfers from all over the world had competed.

“We wish him all the best in his future undertakings and hopefully he will continue playing at our club,” Roslan added.
