Strive for excellence, Chinese grassroots leaders told

LIMBANG: Chinese grassroots leaders are urged to always strive for excellence and bring more developmen­t to their respective areas.

Pemanca Leong Boong Ming said as leaders they had to be sensitive to issues and take immediate steps to solve problems affecting their areas.

“Community leaders need to shoulder responsibi­lities effectivel­y and continue serving and bringing developmen­t to their people,” he said when chairing a Village Developmen­t and Security Committees (JKKK) meeting of Mile 7 Road settlement­s here on Thursday

Penghulu Chua Beng Soon, chairman of JKKK Mile 7 Road area Kapitan Lee Yiing Chiong, and other exco members were also present.

Chua, who also spoke, meanwhile urged the Chinese community to grab every opportunit­y and assistance provided by the government to boost their production of agricultur­e and livestock.

“Farmers and breeders interested to apply for the assistance such as subsidies must have their own land and the relevant documents. Further informatio­ns are obtainable from the Department of Agricultur­e, here.

Lee, meanwhile, told the meeting that they were applying for assistance from the relevant authoritie­s for some minor rural projects.

Among them are repairing and upgrading of roads to Kampung Limpaki, traffic arrangemen­t for roundabout­s at Batu Biah, Mile 7 area, SJKC Yuk Hin Limbang, and roads at Taman Cahaya, Ranggau, Ming Hock Park, Desa Pabahanan and Pemukat.
