SAR team finds missing septuagena­rian

SIBU: An aged man who went missing for two days in a forest in Kanowit was found yesterday by a Search and Rescue team.

Jampong Jawi, who is in his 70s, had gone into the forest on Friday in search of jungle produce but could not find his way back home.

Worried for his safety, his family members had sought help from the Fire and Rescue Department which formed a search and rescue team comprising Bomba personnel, the police and local villagers.

The SAR team was led by six firefighte­rs and assisted by three policemen and five longhouse residents.

Jampong was found in a weak state at 11.08am yesterday.

He was later sent to the Kanowit Hospital for medical examinatio­n and treatment.
