PH candidate needs to work hard to ensure victory at Cameron Highlands – Voter

-

TANAH RATA: “He is good but has to work hard to win”, says a voter on M. Manogaran, the Pakatan Harapan ( PH) candidate in the Cameron Highlands byelection.

Abdul Latif Hussin, 70, said Manogaran should focus his campaign to win the vote of the heads of the households in the highlands as they could influence the choice of the family.

“We do not deny the role of young voters but do not neglect the head of the family,” he said when met by Bernama during a walkabout by Barisan Nasional ( BN) candidate, Mohd Ramli Nor here yesterday.

He said Manogaran is very approachable person who is often in Cameron Highlands long before being announced as a candidate.

A shopkeeper known as Siva said Manogaran has the chance to win as he is well-known among the local residents unlike the BN candidate who only showed up now.

Meanwhile, trader Tony Goh, 54, said putting Mohd Ramli as a candidate would enhance BN’s chances to retain the highland seat as he is from the Orang Asli community.

Polling day for the Cameron Highlands by- election has been set on Jan 26 after the Election Court declared the victory of Datuk C. Sivarraajh of BN in the 14th general election as null and void after finding the practice of corruption to influence voters in the constituency. — Bernama
