Some 500 par­tic­i­pate in Saberkas Happy Run

MIRI: More than 500 peo­ple took part in Saberkas Happy Run 2019 held at Permy Mall in Permy­jaya New­town­ship here yes­ter­day.

The event was or­gan­ised by Saberkas Se­nadin branch.

As­sis­tant Min­is­ter of Tourism, Arts and Cul­ture Datuk Lee Kim Shin who of­fi­ci­ated at the prize pre­sen­ta­tion cer­e­mony gave his thumbs-up to the or­gan­is­ing com­mit­tee for suc­cess­fully hold­ing the event.

Lee who is also Se­nadin assem­bly­man hoped more such events would be held in fu­ture.

Yes­ter­day’s run was di­vided into seven cat­e­gories namely Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Vet­eran, Women’s Vet­eran and two cat­e­gories for fam­ily which were fam­ily kid boy and an­other group of fam­ily kid girl as well as fun run.

In the Men’s Open cat­e­gory, the win­ner was David Pat­ton fol­lowed by Yong Khong Wei in sec­ond and Claveron Ro­nan Ho (third) while Bernard Tay Kar Leong came in fourth.

Tho Sian Khim emerged cham­pion in the Women’s Open cat­e­gory while Grace Pui and Lee Siew Shien took sec­ond and third re­spec­tively. In fourth place was Ja­cytha Thian.

The Men’s Vet­eran cat­e­gory was won by Lee Kim Hing with Aza Maain Gre­mar in sec­ond and Chang Yong Zhang, third.

For the Women’s Vet­eran cat­e­gory, the cham­pion was Lee Leh Ha while in sec­ond, third and fourth plac­ing were Joanna Eng Siew Jin, Ce­cilia Mak­si­mon and Rani Dawat re­spec­tively.

Fam­ily Kid Boy cat­e­gory win­ners were Robin Wan Mathew and Cele­tial Reyes Ho (first), Michael Scheck and Julius Scheck ( sec­ond), Jeremiah Emeza Yew and Ju­lian Ivan Tabib Yew (third) and Ro­nan Sia and Joseph Sia (fourth).

For the Fam­ily Kid Girl cat­e­gory, Yong Pei Ying and Shan­ice Tang Yu Chen fin­ished in first place, with Sid Ali Arouche and Aicha Arouche in sec­ond, Chia Siang Hui and Tone Lau Ngin Ting (third), and Sarah Arouche and Caro­line Scheck in fourth.

The first to fourth-placed win­ners in all cat­e­gories re­ceived cash prizes of RM300, RM200, RM100 and RM80 re­spec­tively, along with a medal each.
