Hundreds welcome GPS convoy on Kapit leg of flag rally

KAPIT: Hundreds of supporters gathered at the express boat terminal here yesterday to welcome the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Flag Rally convoy.

Leading the welcoming party were Hulu Rajang member of parliament Datuk Wilson Ugak, Pelagus assemblyma­n Wilson Nyabong and Bukit Goram assemblyma­n Jefferson Jamit.

They were accompanie­d by political secretarie­s to the chief minister Tapah Ata and Nicholas Kudi, Kapit District Council walikota Datuk Philimon Nuing and his deputy Lawrence Listin, councillor­s and local community leaders.

Members of Kelab Gagung Sarawak, led by Martin Bilun, were present in full Iban ceremonial gear to greet the visitors, who were led by Layar assemblyma­n Gerald Rentap in his capacity as GPS Youth chief.

Members of the convoy, including Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Snowdan Lawan and Machan assemblyma­n Allan Siden, were scheduled yesterday evening to hold the launching of the GPS logo at Rumah Edison Bugap in Melekun, Baleh.

The convoy will depart Kapit today for its next stop in Sarikei.
