MIRI: A police report was lodged yesterday against a Facebook user over a racially- charged post.

The police report was made by political secretary to the chief minister, Charles Balan Seling at Miri Central police station after he was alerted about the offensive post.

He said the post could incite hostility among the races and disrupt the strong and friendly ties shared by Sarawakians.

“The statement is irresponsible, insensitive, immoral and contrary to the friendly nature of Sarawakians who uphold strong family spirit,” said Charles.

The Facebook user in question made the offensive comment when sharing a post by PKR Baram chairman Roland Engan, which stated that rural residents of Long Bedian in Apoh, Baram had voiced their hope for all parties involved in matters concerning native customary rights ( NCR) land in Long Bedian to sit down and negotiate.
